Wildlife
There are not many wildlife in the coniferous forest because of its harsh winters.
Except for insects, there are a lot of them in the forest.
In the coniferous forest there are different types of animals. For example there are: bears, lynx, rabbits, moose, deer, martens, wolverines, and other creatures.
In cold winter times most animals are in hibernation or going to the south, which animals go when cold seasons come.

The American Black Bear
The american black bear lives mostly in North America. Like all bears the black bear is a predator and an omnivore. It helps the environment by killing off the elderly, and weaklings of over populated prey. The black bear is not endangered and is widely distributed throughout most of North America. The black bear can survive the cold weathers of the taiga because it have a well adapted coat. The coat of black bears have many layers of shaggy fur. Its claws are also very adapted to its environment because they are just the right length to climb the many trees that surround its forest home. This type of bear hibernates to avoid having to find food in the winter.
The north american porcupine
This type of porcupine can be found in Canada, Northern Mexico, western United States, and Alaska. These countries have coniferous forests. This animal has dark brown coat; small head; sharp quills. It also is very wooly underneath all the quills. The porcupines have short legs and has thick tails. This animal can survive the weathers for the coniferous forest because it can keep in heat for the cold weathers with the quills and the wool underneath the quills.
The Lynx
The lynx stays and survives the cold and freezing winter. They can do this because of their thick layer of fur protects them from the cold and helps them to survive. They also have paws that work like snowshoes. They distribue the lynx's weight and that helps them to not to sink into the snow. It is a type of cat. It feeds on other animals. This means it is a carnivore. For example, it eats little hares in the winter. It is very hard for them to find food in the winter, but because hares can survive the harsh weathers the lynx can enjoy its lunch.
